This notice concerns an incident that C-Track, Canada’s Court Management Solutions owned by Thomson Reuters Canada Limited (C-Track Canada), recently experienced involving information associated with the below listed court systems. This notice describes the type of information that may have been involved, the steps C-Track Canada has taken to respond, and measures affected individuals may consider taking to help protect themselves, including enrollment in a 12-month complimentary membership of myTrueIdentity credit monitoring and identity theft protection services through TransUnion.
What Happened?
On June 30, 2026, C-Track Canada discovered unauthorized activity involving certain C-Track Canada information by a third party. As part of its cybersecurity incident response protocols, C-Track promptly launched an investigation into the incident, which included the engagement of third-party experts and law enforcement. C-Track Canada also immediately took steps to contain the activity and secure its environment.
The investigation found that, in March 2026, an unauthorized party obtained certain C-Track Canada files associated with the following court systems: the Court of Appeal for Ontario, the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, and the Ontario Court of Justice.
What Information Was Involved?
Based on the investigation, a subset of court records were affected, some of which could potentially contain individuals’ names and personal information. Certain confidential, redacted or sealed information may have been impacted for certain affected courts. While these courts' data was affected, the incident was not caused by the courts' networks, systems or data security. There is no evidence that systems used to process financial transactions were impacted by the incident.
C-Track Canada has no evidence that the incident has led to any fraud or misuse of information to date and has undertaken significant mitigation steps to minimize the risk of fraud or misuse occurring in the future.
